There are many benefits to PSEs when they join the American Postal Workers Union. As members, PSEs have the same rights as career in electing their shop stewards, or even becoming shop stewards themselves. You can register with the local website and have access to the members resources, which include explanations of your rights, and other important, timely information. You get to vote for your national officers, as well as regional officers. In other words, you have all the rights and benefits as a career. And you have the union fighting for you in working to provide a path to career opportunities.

A couple of benefits available to PSE members are: after one year of work, you are able to join the APWU Health Plan; you are automatically covered by the Accident Benefit Plan; you eligible to join the American Dental Center plan. (for more information on those, click here)

The union, both national and local, are continually fighting for your rights and a path to career. There are a couple of critical rights the Union has attained for PSEs: rehiring based on office seniority; access to the grievance procedure, and just cause in discipline (including removals).
