Long Island Area Local Participates in Day of Action

Members of the Long Island, NY Area Local joined with members from the NALC and Mailhandlers union to demonstrate in front of the Huntington Station Post Office on Monday, October 8, 2018.

Joining a force of about 250 unionists, the message was sent out that the US MAIL IS NOT FOR SALE!!!  As our fellow unionists marched holding signs and posters stating our opposition to privatization, and chanting US Mail not for sale, motorists and passerbys gave thumbs up and honked horns showing the public support for the Postal Service.

News 12 and Newsday had reporters and cameras there to report our story. Both organizations gave a favorable report on the demonstration.  Walter Barton, President of Branch 6000 gave the union's views in an interview on News 12.

We thank the many members who showed up on a dreary holiday to fight for our jobs, and to have the Postal Service remain a viable and integral part of America.
