Local Dues Increase
Updated On: Nov 29, 2018

General Membership Overwhelmingly Votes to Increase Local Dues

At the February 25, 2018 General Membership meeting, the members present voted overwhelmingly to increase the Local union dues.

As you know, the Local Executive Board had proposed an increase to the Local Union dues in order to meet the rising costs of administering the Union, and to maintain the high level of representation which this Local provides.

After spirited debate, and a couple of motions, the Membership voted to change the proposed increase of the Executive Board, which was an increase in career members dues by $2.00 a pay period, and PSE dues by $5.82 this year and next, to an increase in career members dues to $3.00 per pay period, and PSE dues by $2.82 this year and next.  This increase should keep the Local finances on strong financial footing, and keep our representation at the level that it is known for throughout the APWU.

It is noted that this dues increase comes at a time when the newest COLA takes effect, which is $20.00 per pay period, so the dues increase will not even be felt by our members.

The Executive Board thanks each and every member who expressed their opinions and views, and those who attended the meeting and voted on this very important issue.
